Learning Objectives:

Registration will open Tuesday, September 5, 2017. 

This activity is primarily designed to accommodate our students. Registration is open to pharmacists, but is limited to 10-12 participants total. Registration will close when full.

If you wish to be placed on a waitlist, you must email Erin.Morris@stlcop.edu. Placement on a waitlist does not guarantee registration - you will be contacted via email if a space becomes open. 

No registrations will be accepted January 2nd or later. This is to allow for sufficient time to complete the required pre-work. 

Educate pharmacists about:

  • The impact of vaccines on public health.
  • Pharmacists’ roles in immunization.
  • Immunologic principles of vaccine development and immunizations.
  • Vaccine-preventable diseases and the vaccines used to prevent them.
  • Strategies for improving immunization rates. 
  • Requirements for pharmacists who provide immunization services.

Prepare pharmacists to:

  • Read an immunization schedule and identify appropriate vaccines for individuals across the life span and with special needs.
  • Educate patients about the benefits of vaccines and dispel myths about vaccines.
  • Safely administer vaccines to patients via subcutaneous, intramuscular, intranasal, and intradermal routes. 
  • Operate an immunization service in compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
  • Partner with immunization stakeholders to promote immunizations and the immunization neighborhood.

Direct pharmacists to resources necessary to:

  • Promote public health through immunizations.
  • Access regularly updated information about vaccines and their use.
  • Effectively communicate with patients and other stakeholders about resources.
  • Operate an immunization service in compliance with legal and regulatory standards.

St. Louis College of Pharmacy has partnered with the American Pharmacists Association (APhA) to offer this program. The American Pharmacists Association is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. The home-study portion of the Pharmacy-Based Immunization Delivery certificate training program is approved for 12 contact hours (1.2 CEUs) of continuing pharmacy education credit (UAN 0202-9999-17-160-H06-P). The live training seminar is approved for 8 contact hours (0.8 CEU) of continuing pharmacy education credit (UAN 0202-9999-17-161-L06-P).

Target Audience:

Pharmacists in all practice settings and pharmacy students who meet preliminary criteria.

The purpose of this certificate training program is to prepare pharmacists with comprehensive knowledge, skills, and resources necessary to provide immunization services to patients across the life span.

To obtain credit for "Pharmacy-Based Immunization Delivery" complete home study activities, complete both home study and final assessments with a grade of 70% or better, attend the live seminar, successfully complete the injection technique assessment, complete the evaluation, and CLAIM credit. To obtain credit, the Learner must CLAIM credit once each component is completed. Once credit is claimed, Transcripts of CPE will be available online within 24 hours on the Learner’s CPE Monitor profile at www.nabp.net.  The Certificate of Achievement will be available online upon successful completion of the necessary activity requirements on the participant’s “My Training” page on www.pharmacist.com

Self-study materials will be sent to email address associated with your account beginning Monday, December 18, 2017 to all paid participants. Homestudy assessments must be completed prior to the live session and typically take between 1 to 2 hours. Please allow up to three (3) business days from receipt of payment for homestudy materials. 

Participants who would like to requrest a refund may do so by sending an email to Erin.Morris@stlcop.edu. Refunds can be issued provided the following: 

  • You must not have redeemed the enrollment code. Once the code has been used on APhA's website - in any capacity - no refund can be issued. Redemption of the enrollment code voids any refund.
  • Cancellations received before distribution of home study materials (i.e., prior to December 18th) are eligible for a 100% refund. 
  • Cancellations received between December 18th and December 31st are eiligible for a full refund, less a $50 administrative fee. ($325.00 total)
  • Refunds will not be issued after December 31, 2017.
